During the week of 17-21 of September 2018, Business Beyond Borders (BBB) travelled to New Delhi and Greater Noida, India, to hold its ninth business matchmaking event at Renewable Energy India Expo 2018 (REI Expo 2018). This time, our matchmaking sessions focused on companies operating in the renewable energy sector. This was also our initiative’s last overseas event, so we couldn’t have asked for a livelier, exciting venue and host country!
Unlike most of our previous events, the BBB matchmaking sessions were hosted as part into a wider EU programme country – the EU-India Clean Energy and Climate Days, jointly organised by the Delegation of the European Union to India, the European Business Technology Centre (EBTC) and the BBB initiative. Spread throughout the entire week, these included:
- The “Doing Business in India” Seminar on Monday the 17th, held in New Delhi city centre;
- The EU-India Clean Energy and Climate Inaugural Day, held at the REI Expo 2018 venue on Wednesday the 19th, with thematic sessions, high-level expert panels and the European Night Networking Evening;
- The “India and EU – Co-Creation of Projects in Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” dialogue, held at FICCI’s headquarters in New Delhi on Friday the 21st.
In addition to these, participants joined our matchmaking sessions at the BBB/EU Pavilion on 18-20 September. Now that the event is over, we’re happy to report that 364 SMEs and Clusters from 34 countries (including 121 companies from EU countries) took part in 537 meetings during our event at REI Expo 2018 – an excellent number promising many collaboration and partnership opportunities between European and international business.
What’s more, some SMEs and Cluster managed to strike some very interesting deals during their initial meetings. These were announced during the “India and EU – Co-Creation of Projects in Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” dialogue by H.E. the EU Ambassador to India, Mr. Tomasz Kozlowski. Expressing his satisfaction with the outcomes of this EU mission to India, EU Ambassador Kozlowski praised the BBB sessions as “the kind of events we need to move the business, energy and sustainable development agenda forward between the EU and India”.
Participants were also very happy with their BBB meetings at REI Expo 2018. Ramon Vivanco Mugarra, who took part in the BBB sessions as the representative for Archenerg Cluster (Hungary) and COSMENERG-4i ‘Global Clusters for Renewable Energy and Environmental Technologies’ (Central and Eastern Europe), said that “’India has a huge potential and technologies when it comes to renewable energy, which is a great asset in the European market. I had the chance to meet different companies which are willing to join our alliance in Europe, so I’m pretty happy with the outcome of my BBB meetings”.
The last BBB overseas event couldn’t have been more satisfying, and we would like to thank all our partners – in particular, the Delegation of the European Union to India; EBTC; and UBM India – for all their support during this exciting week. All the pictures from the BBB event at REI 2018 are now available on the BBB Flickr account – and don’t forget to follow our social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube) for more outcomes and our customary post-event videos.
Finally, don’t miss the chance to join our final BBB event of 2018 at VISION. Taking place on 6-8 November in Stuttgart, our matchmaking sessions at VISION will focus on SMEs and Clusters operating in the machine vision sector – registration is already open.
